Ask for Google reviews by text

The link is useless in a notes app. Send it the same day, from your phone, to the person who just paid you.

Asking for Google reviews by text is a habit, not a blast. You already have the customer’s number because you scheduled the job. You already did the work. A short same-day Google review text is one message, one link, one person. Askforstars does not send that message. We make the Google review link and a template. You copy it.

A template you can edit

The default we show is:

Thanks for having us out today. If we did right, a 30-second review helps: {link}

Keep it in your voice. Name the tech if you want. Drop the exclamation marks if that is not how you talk. Leave {link} where the official write-review URL should go. The generator fills that with https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID.

You send it. TCPA is yours.

US shops already live under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act when they text customers. We are not your lawyer. The simple product rule is this: you send the text from your own phone to people you just did a job for, using a number you already have. That is a conversation you started when they booked. We never send SMS. We do not store customer phone numbers in v1. We do not run a drip. We do not buy lists.

If a product “asks for reviews for you,” it is sending on your behalf. That is a different product and a different risk. One honest line: they send the texts; we don’t.

Same day, not Friday

The job is still in their head at the driveway. By Friday it is not. Send the Google review link before you pull away, or when you park at the next stop. If they want to write later, they still have the thread.

Do not wait for a weekly “review Friday” batch. That is how shops turn a thank-you into a campaign. One job, one text, same day. If two techs finished two jobs, that is two texts from two phones, or from the owner who ran both. We do not queue them. We do not schedule them.

What not to put in the text

Do not tell them what star rating to leave. Do not offer a gift card for a five. Do not say “only if you loved it, tell Google; if not, call us.” That last one is review gating. Google’s rules and your own reputation both suffer. Ask for the review. Let them write what happened.

Do not paste a tracking shortener in front of the write-review URL unless you know why you need it. The customer should land on Google, not a hop that asks for an app install. Our template uses the official host.

Need the URL first? Use the Google review link generator. New to the format? What a Google review link is. Steps if you do not have the dashboard open: how to get your Google review link. Save the shop and the script for $29/month.
